Kietreiber Bids Farewell

20 May 2008

New York (Chinatown Newswire) — Austrian playmaker Markus “Kiddy” Kietreiber is returning home after a weeklong trial with the Chinatown Soccer Club.

The attacking midfielder trained with players from the club’s first team and Coach Stochl said today that he would consider looking at the experienced 31-year-old again.

“I can’t do anything with him right now because there are work permit issues,” Stochl said.

Under FIFA transfer rules, Kietreiber, who plays for the Vienna All-Stars in the Austrian capital, is not allowed to sign for an American club unless he starts a majority of his country’s international matches.

“To go to one of New York’s biggest clubs and get a chance to train is an honor and a privilege,” Kietreiber told the Newswire earlier this week. “But even if I play well, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll sign me.”

Kietreiber also said that he enjoyed meeting and socializing with a number of CSC players and many of them turned up at this morning’s training session to bid the Austrian farewell for now.
