#83 Frederick Jay “Rick” Rubin
Rick Rubin was and still is the shit. His infamous NYU dorm room spawned a record label that brought Hip-Hop to the forefront of commercial music. Like the song says, he did it his way; and like Che Guevara or Emiliano Zapata he never took command of his armies so his personal legacy just grew and grew. At its height, he walked away from Def Jam and went on to continually do it distinctly his own way throughout; pumping out insane albums for The Chili Peppers and Johnny Cash. Never ever resting on laurels is probably one of the coolest things one could ever do. Rick Rubin did it since day one. Don’t even get me started on the beard and cut-off sweatshirts and the walking to a different drummer……
