Siggi.
16 December 2008

Siggi has been around for a while now and just dropped a massive update to his site. As his style starts to circulate and picked up by others, you can see how he is shifting it and keeping it fresh. Well known for his style, it is always great to see something original. I first met him along with a number of other designers about a year ago in London, but he has been living in Berlin for the past few months and obviously keeping very busy. Really nice work.

In the news…
12 December 2008

Since I don’t own a television, I never am watching German TV, but a friend caught a clip on the news last night featuring the guys at London Fixed Gear, which also included some clips from MASH. Lily Lin and I happened to be in London as they were finishing the piece about one year ago for the show Polylux, but the news snatched it up and re-aired it last night. It is a great piece of the guys at FGLondon and they have done so much in the last year. From getting their space going to the amount of collaborations and projects they are creating, it is truly amazing. Plus they are all super positive and great guys to be spearheading the track bike scene in London and abroad. Here is the actual video, (but only in Deutsch).
Berlin Calling.
9 December 2008

I was able to catch up with my friend, Stefano Pedrini recently and talk about all things from why everyone is moving to Berlin to Danish Cycling culture. Stefano has some time on me here in Berlin, being a local artist for the past three years, and still loves this city because it offers so much for so little. I am a huge fan of his work, and its always a pleasure to be able to hang out a bit. Having artists and people like him in your town makes suffering the cold worth it.
Check some more of his work here on his site.
Top 5.
2 December 2008
It is almost the end of the year, and I have been spending way too much time in front of the computer (which is healthy and unhealthy at the same time). I figured I would jump on the end of the year lists a bit early and give my top 5 Design shops/people/sites of 2008.
1. Kokoro & Moi
Love these guys and their work. Ex-Syrup Helsinki and still have some of the most fresh work out there.
2. TOKO
Just updated with a handful of new projects and all amazing as well. Always an inspiration to visit their site.
3. Welcome To
Don’t know too much about these guys, but have loved their work for the last few years. Truly beautiful work that seems to hit home perfectly for each client. Amazing harmony between style and concept.
4. Studio Newwork
If you haven’t caught their papers, do so. They have a very nice portfolio for a number of great clients. As elegant and refined as it comes.
5. From Keetra
An thorough collection of personal, school, and professional projects. Seriously something here for everyone and each project is well executed.
Just a few sites I constantly check on to see get me motivated to sit down for another 16hour shift. Hopefully some more top 5s as this year raps up.
All I want for Christmas…

If your in japan, pick me up a crops otomo!. Brad just got back from the bike show, and This was the prize. The otomo is a rechargeable 2 gig mp3 player / speaker system. It’s loud, water proof, tiny, and lasts a couple days between recharging. Take your music for a ride, and keep your ears on the road.

THIS is why I love you… (please do yourself a favor and peep the FOUNDER’S MESSAGE.)

“Prevents conflict. Protects life. Personal actualization. Ultimate privacy. Relieve stress, harassment & negativity while using the VITAL ORBIT® Personal Human Force Field!

Thanks to Colbert, I see Papa Bear O’Reilly as a comedian, which is fortunate because I can’t fathom how someone can actually believe this. Makes me miss the homeless drug lovin’ inhabitants of San Francicso. This close to moving back.
