Truthtag. I love this guys work. I can’t believe I have never seen it before. Maybe my head is buried too deep in the computer or I haven’t made it to Poland recently. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I’m actually inspired to create something.

My New Favorite Pen (Maybe)

I have always had a Sharpie Ultra Fine Point pen on me at all times. It actually freaks me out when I loan it to someone and don’t get it back for 30 seconds. Very unsettling to say the least. I have permanent wear marks on all of my jeans from the pen that rides in my pocket, in the same place, all the time. My only problem is that it’s really damn ugly. So, I have been on the look-out for quite some time for its drawing/writing equivalent. I may have found one. TÜL. They have a whole range of marking utensils for every need. They even have cool white-board markers. (It’s about time.) I hear, but don’t care to confirm, that OfficeMax is behind the brand and that they have out sold every other pen in their stores with the TÜL range. I like the packaging too.

I am still in the testing phase so I can’t recommend them to replace the Sharpie consistency, yet, but I’m trying very hard to adopt the new.

KOOL Film

I know this has been circulating for a while, but if you haven’t seen or heard anything about it, you must check it out. The trailer reminds me of something Kubrick would have done. Amazing.

Introduction + Background

Since this is my first post, I will try to give some perspective on who I am, how it pertains to my post and what I will do from here. I grew up with skateboarding & BMX. It consumed or influenced my every thought and action from age 10 on. It also brought me out to California. My first job here was working with Bob Haro doing graphics and development. This coupled with my parent’s creative upbringing landed me in SF doing what I love. Design of Identity, Interiors & Graphics.

Recently I was asked to be a part of the “Lightning Bolts” number plate art show. The show consists of 30 artists that have had the common bond of BMX as an early inspiration. It will debut in Beijing on May 15th. This is the piece I created for the show. Since I was a freestyle guy with no need for numbers, I produced a logo of my name just as I would have done back in the day. Only a bit more subtle. Until next time. RGH
