Heading out to the ace Hotel in Palm Springs to finalize a project we have been working on with Evan for awhile. Last time out the pool was looking freshly skated and the buildings were gutted. I will post some updated shots while out there this week.

Excited for the opening, it is going to be a great place to spend your time.

Dakar

One of my favorite motorsports events, the Dakar Rally got underway this week.

For the first time in its 30 year history, the rally was transferred from Africa by the threat of terrorism. Bikes, cars and trucks will start in South America and steer through Argentina and Chile.

Pictured above is hands down the best car to ever enter and win the event. The Porsche 959 from 1986.

Tillandsia

Such a interesting species of plant, Tillandsia (air plants) need no soil because water and nutrients are absorbed through the leaves. The roots are used as anchors only.

You can “mount” and arrange them as you wish, kind of like sculptures.

The Tourist Tees

New York based hotelier Andre Balazs’ The Standard, and downtown Manhattan impresario, Tony Arcabascio, have teamed up to bring you, The Tourist Tees. The three tee set features graphics commisioned by a judiciously assembled group of top designers/artists and represent the three major cities the hotels inhabit: Los Angeles, Miami, and it’s newest conquest, New York City.

Because lettering directly reflects a certain person or region, it was important to select the perfect individual for each location, hence, hand-picking Eric Haze for Nyc, José Parla for Miami, and west coast’s Natas Kaupas for Los Angeles. Each of these artists were comissioned to write the city’s name in their own personal handstyles, making each a unique and recognizable representation for that area. The days of receiving the typical, “my … went to … and all I got was this lousy t-shirtâ€ tee from your friends and family when they travel are over.
