One of the best bike polo players in Paris also happens to be a talented street artist, Sich.
He has a show on in Paris right now, with some great portraits made out of colored paper cut-outs.

Satoshi Minakawa / Customized

Back in 2002, when we launched Intersection magazine, we started working with a young Japanese photographer who was ready to put a lot of effort into his shoots. During the following 8 years Satoshi Minakawa regularly produced spectacular still-life stories for us, documenting Japanese custom culture, from extravagantly decorated trucks to overly modified vans via scary-looking scooters and absurd custom bicycles.

Tonight we’re happy to be partners in an exhibition he’s having at The Printspace in London:

Whenever I’m in New York, I always pass by Sol Moscot to check what old frames they have re-issued. I love the whole look and feel of their stores, and my man Frank always takes care of me. A true old school NYC family-owned shop, with probably the best range of glasses and sunglasses around.

Went to the launch of Six Scents at the New Museum in NYC last night. I like the idea (asking small and independent fashion designers to create a fragrance as part of a series), but I think using big numbers as identity for perfumes is a bit overdone.
What I did especially appreciate, though, was the logo created for the project - simple, classic and refreshingly curvy:

One more Bicycle Film Festival, and one more hardcourt bike polo tournament. I just can’t get enough of these! My team Zombie R.M.Y. (Rob, Mike, Yorgo) drove to Paris from London in the most luxurious team van ever seen in the short history of hardcourt bike polo. Our Mercedes-Benz Viano also came in handy as a shelter on a day of constant rain. Oh and we lost in the early rounds to the winners of the tournament, team MAD Bike Polo from Madison, Wisconsin.

Black Crows window display at Colette

We just installed a window display at Colette in Paris. Inspired by these huge rotating advertising billboards and by kinetic art, it actually uses real Black Crows skis. I’m really happy with the final result, way better than my original sketch. Thanks Sarah!

The Car Launch series / pt.2: Infiniti in Europe

I attended the official press launch of the Infiniti brand in Europe, held near Marseille in France. Organized by Wayne Bruce (formerly at sister company Nissan) who’s renowned for his original and laid-back press trips, this short journey lived up to its high expectations.

We flew from Farnborough private airport, skillfully designed by Reid architects:

No, Infiniti haven’t started building vans… Just a covered-up Iveco:

We stayed at the fantastic Couvent Des Minimes:

But the highlight of my stay had to be the discovery of the “around view monitor”, basically a system that helps you park with 4 wide angle cameras transmitting the view from all four sides of the car to the dashboard. You “see” your car from above, and never have to worry about bad parking again. This gave me a lot of ideas…
